Hello First Grade Families,
Happy Mothers day to all the wonderful Moms out there. I hope everyone was able to enjoy their day. I can't believe that we only have 2 more weeks of school and our first graders will be second graders.
Last week in 1st grade we...
- worked hard on end of the quarter assessments.
- finished our small moment narrative stories.
- Read a Tall Tale about Paul Bunyan.
- finish up with root words, prefixes and suffixes.
This week we will...
- share our small moments with our friends.
- continue working on assessment.
Last week the 3rd graders had their own stores that they made products to "sell" to the 1st graders. Each 1st grader was given $20 (play money) and they got to be consumers and shop at each 3rd grade store. I'm sure you noticed the creative things that were bought when your child took them out of their backpacks. It was a fun time had by all and they got put into action what we have been learning about producers, consumers, goods, and services.
A Few Date To Remember:
- 8th graders will continue to sell lemonade at lunch recess until May 23. Feel free to send your child with a quarter or 2 so they can enjoy a glass of lemonade.
- Field day will be on the last day of school. May 25. Please sign up to help with this fun event.
- Report cards will go home next Wednesday!!
MATH NEWS FROM MISS GARCIA
Happy Monday!
We hope that you had a joyous Mother’s Day weekend. It’s our last “regular” week of school. The teachers will be busy assessing students this week. For first grade homework, please have your child choose one IXL assignment, of their choice, each night to complete. Mrs. Bloomfield and I will receive daily reports on who has completed their assignments.
