Week 13 -- December 4 -- December 7

Dear First Grade Families,

We had a fun week of learning last week.  It was exciting to see how many students choose to read over Thanksgiving break. The kids loved getting a surprise when they returned to school on Monday.

Last week in first grade...
  • We finished our "Me on the Map & Who is in charge"  flip books. They are hanging in the hallway for the week. Students will be bringing them home soon.
  • We learned all about the different types of communities (Urban, Suburban, and Rural).
  • We reviewed nouns and learned about common and proper nouns.  Please review this concept with your child throughout the week.
This week we will...
  • begin a project on sound and vibrations.
  • learn about the 4 types of sentences -- declarative, exclamatory, interrogative, and imperative.
  • reviewed common and  proper proper nouns. We will begin to learn about possessive nouns and completed an assessment to show our understanding of each type of noun.
  • explore facts from opinions. Student will complete a graphic organizer to write their opinion on the toy everybody should get for Christmas.
Reminder --
Book orders -- A Scholastic book order went home last week.  If you would like to order from our Scholastic book order please have your order in by December 6th. This way they will be delivered in before Christmas Break!!  If these are a gift please email me and I will make sure to deliver them directly to you.

Conferences will be held this Friday -- If you have not signed up for conferences please do so asap.  I look forward to meeting with you!!
