Week 3

Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  The weather was perfect.

Last week in first grade we...
  • Began our first project of introducing our TRIBE/group members. 1st graders worked in groups to complete a circle map, ask questions and write good sentences about a student in their group.
  • made it to 4 minutes of stamina in reading to self. Our goal is 10 minutes.  We are building our brains to be able to read this long.
  • looked a syllables and counted syllables in words.
  •  took the the MAPs test.
  • Practiced Attentive Listening
This week we will...
  • continue our project and introduce a new member of our tribe
  • Take a developmental spelling test.
  • Learn all about Mutual Respect and No Put Downs
  • Begin work on writing for another daily 5 choice.
REMINDER

Please make sure you  activate your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and perform the Mandatory Annual Update of your child(ren)'s contact information.

It is imperative that the school have current Emergency Contact names and phone numbers as well as your current home address, email and phone numbers.  This online Annual Update replaces the lengthy paper forms usually distributed at Back to School night and every family must complete this process by September 30th.  If you do not update this information by September 30, your student(s) will lose recess. High school students will lose open campus lunch privileges.

A computer is available in the front office for you to use if you need help or do not have access to a computer.  The Churchill County Library also has computers available for public use.

Please use the following link to activate your Parent Portal account, if you haven't previously done so.  https://nspcsa.infinitecampus.org/campus/unique-link/L4UDPAWPGCF4V8UY?appName=oasis

Math News from Miss Garcia

Happy Monday!  We are getting into the swing of things around here.  The first graders are continuing to work on daily routines and our TRIBE Agreements.  It is important that as a class, they work together, share, follow directions and most importantly learn!  There are a lot of standards that are to be covered both in language and math and our top priority at Oasis Academy is to work hard and learn!

As a class we continue to distinguish between more and less, compare and order numbers from 0-20 and find missing numbers within  a sequence.

Such as:
7, 8, 9 ___, ___, 12, ___                OR 14, 13, ___, 11, ____, ____, 8, 7, 6,

The students are using both number lines and 100 charts as resources and tools in the classroom.

Please check the blog daily for the assigned math homework.
Monday
IXL A.5 Count on 10 frames up to 40
Tuesday
IXL A.6 Skip count by 10’s to 100
