Week 4

Happy Monday

Fall is in the air. Please make sure to write your child's name on all their belongings.   Our lost and found is getting full.

Last week in first grade...

  • we learned about not giving put downs. We also explored ways to fill each others buckets by giving appreciation statements.
  • we introduced 12 more classmates by working in groups to learn all about them.
  • we took a developmental spelling assessment and are almost ready to begin reading groups.
This week we will...
  • finish up with our classmate introduction project.
  • Learn more about appreciations and bucket fillers
  • continue to count syllables in words.
  • continue to explore the "secret stories" (the sounds letter combinations) in our names.
Reading Homework
We will be starting reading groups soon.  Please continue to read 20 minutes nightly.

In first grade were are working on and modeling Part, Part, Whole.  Here are a few examples:

Number Bonds lead into both addition and subtraction equations. (Here are examples from the number bonds above)
4 + 3 = 7 3 + 2 = 5
3 + 4 = 7 2 + 3 = 5
